Destroy a Vault Economy Guide
Master Gold, Cash, and Gems so smelting, upgrades, and mutations stay funded every session.
Destroy a Vault runs on a clean three-currency loop. Gold drops from vault destruction (including offline). The Smelter turns Gold into Cash. Cash buys slots, board upgrades, rolls, and personal robot DPS. Gems are the premium side channel used mainly for Mutation Cores at the Market. Understanding that split stops most early-game stalls.
This economy guide explains each currency, the smelting loop, offline earnings, and how island vault progression changes income. Pair it with Upgrades for spend order and Getting Started for the first-hour checklist.
Gold: the raw vault payout
Robots placed in slots attack vaults and generate Gold. Gold is not spent directly on boards — it is inventory waiting for the Smelter. Bigger vaults and Vault Gold Value upgrades increase payout size; faster clears from Robot Damage increase how often payouts happen. Both matter, but clear speed usually constrains beginners more than payout multipliers.
Gold also accrues while you are offline. Log in, walk to the Smelter, convert the pile, then spend. Leaving days of Gold unsmelted is the most common silent loss in the game.
Cash: the upgrade currency
Cash is what you actually shop with for:
- Extra robot slots
- Robot Damage, Battery, Luck, Roll Spots, Vault Gold Value boards
- Individual robot DPS upgrades
- Paid rolls / re-rolls on the podium
Because Cash comes from smelting, your true income rate is Gold earned × smelt cadence. Players who smash vaults but forget the Smelter feel broke despite high Gold totals. Make smelting part of every base visit.
Priority spending is covered deeply in Upgrades: Damage → Battery → Luck/Spots → late Vault Gold Value, while never leaving slots empty for long.
Gems: mutation fuel
Gems appear from progression rewards, certain vault outcomes, and codes such as UPDATE. Spend them at the Market on Mutation Cores to force DPS multipliers onto chosen robots. Full core strategy lives in Mutations.
Do not treat Gems like Cash. Buying cores for temporary fillers wastes the rare currency. Build a Cash-powered army first, then gem-mutate keepers.
The smelting loop step by step
- Roll or buy robots; place them in slots.
- Robots destroy vaults → Gold accumulates.
- Interact with the Smelter → Gold becomes Cash.
- Spend Cash on slots and boards.
- Stronger army → faster/harder vaults → more Gold.
- Occasional Gems → Mutation Cores → higher DPS → still more Gold.
That loop is the entire simulator. Island unlocks and fusion (Robot Fusion) are multipliers on the same cycle, not separate games.
Offline earnings done right
Before you log off:
- Fill every slot with your best available tanks.
- Prefer mutated or high-DPS keepers in those slots.
- Ensure Battery and Damage are not severely behind the vault.
When you return:
- Smelt immediately.
- Buy empty slots if any.
- Top up Robot Damage/Battery if clears slowed.
- Only then re-roll for Index or fusion duplicates.
Offline Gold rewards setup quality. An empty slot earns nothing while you sleep.
Vault progression and islands
Vaults are the content treadmill. Early vaults teach the loop; later islands raise HP and rewards. Unlock the next island when clear times on the current vault are comfortable — not the second you see the gate with zero Cash buffer.
Island two matters twice: stronger vaults and fusion unlock. Plan a Cash reserve for the gate, then rebuild damage after entry so the new vaults do not stall income. Vault Gold Value shines once you can already clear; buying it to “catch up” on a vault you cannot break is usually wrong.
Income levers ranked
| Lever | Currency impact | When to push |
|---|---|---|
| More slots | More Gold/hour | Anytime slots are empty |
| Robot Damage | Faster clears | Default Cash sink |
| Robot Battery | Better uptime / offline | After damage tiers |
| Mutations | DPS multipliers | Keepers via cores/luck |
| Fusion | Stronger mid-game units | After island two |
| Vault Gold Value | Bigger payouts | Late, after clear speed |
| Robot Luck / Index | Better rolls & mutants | Mid, alongside damage |
Index Luck every five unique robots (max about 62.5% with 76 robots) is a free long-term income buff because better rolls and mutations arrive more often.
Codes as economic injections
Active codes on Codes — including RELEASE, UPDATE, and 100K — inject Cash or Gems without vault time. Redeem at session start so the currency enters the same smelt-and-spend cycle. Never save codes “for later” if expiry is unknown.
Cash flow mistakes
- Hoarding Gold without smelting.
- Re-rolling away Cash while slots or Damage are underfunded.
- Buying Vault Gold Value before the army can clear.
- Spending Gems before you own a keeper worth mutating.
- Unlocking an island with no Cash left for post-gate damage.
Session templates
Short session (10–15 min): Smelt → codes → fill slots → one damage/battery purchase → resume vaults.
Standard session: Smelt → upgrade pass → roll for Index/mutants → Market cores if Gems allow → smelt again before logout.
Duplicate grind (post island two): Smelt → ensure damage OK → mass-roll for fusion sets → fuse → mutate fused keepers → smelt.

Putting it together
Think of Gold as ore, Cash as refined metal, and Gems as rare catalysts. Ore without smelting is useless. Metal without a spend plan becomes vanity re-rolls. Catalysts without good robots waste potential. Run the loop deliberately — destroy, smelt, upgrade, mutate, expand islands — and Destroy a Vault’s economy stays a climb instead of a plateau.
When rarity questions appear after income is stable, cross-check keepers on the Tier list. When LoopForge ships economy patches, re-read this page and adjust Vault Gold Value timing first.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Destroy a Vault questions.
What is the difference between Gold and Cash?
Gold drops from vaults and offline earnings. Cash is created when you smelt Gold and is spent on slots, upgrades, rolls, and robot DPS.
What are Gems used for?
Gems primarily buy Mutation Cores at the Market so you can apply DPS multipliers to chosen robots.
Do I earn rewards while offline?
Yes. Robots continue generating Gold offline. Log in, smelt that Gold into Cash, then spend on slots or priority upgrades.
When should I unlock the next island?
Unlock when current vault clear times are comfortable and you still have Cash left to fund damage after the gate — especially before island two fusion.
How do codes affect the economy?
Codes inject Cash or Gems. Redeem RELEASE, UPDATE, and 100K from the Codes page at session start so free currency enters your smelt-and-spend loop.
