Getting Started in Destroy a Vault
Roll your first robots, smash vaults, smelt Gold, and spend Cash without wasting the opening hour.
Destroy a Vault by LoopForge Studios is a Roblox incremental simulator: you roll tank robots, place them on vaults, earn Gold, smelt it into Cash, and grow a base that clears stronger islands. This getting-started guide covers the first hour — tutorial flow, free podium rolls, slot placement, smelting, codes, and the upgrade order that keeps your DPS climbing.
If you only remember three habits from day one, make them these: keep robots on vaults, smelt Gold often, and put Cash into Robot Damage before expensive late boards. For the full board breakdown later, open Upgrades. For currency math, see Economy.
Join and finish the tutorial
Launch Destroy a Vault on Roblox and follow the onboarding arrows. The tutorial teaches movement, interacting with the roll podium, placing a robot into a slot, and pointing you at the Smelter. Do not skip prompts — they place the UI landmarks you will use every session. Movement is WASD, jump is Space, and interact is E on PC; full bindings and mobile notes are in Controls.
After the scripted tips end, stay in your base. Everything important for the first hour is local: podium, slots, Smelter, upgrade boards, Settings/codes, and later the Market.
First rolls on the podium
Walk to the roll podium. You can roll robots for free on a cadence, buy rolls with Cash, or re-roll when you dislike the result. Early on, accept almost any tank that fills an empty slot — idle empty slots are wasted Gold. Re-rolling is fine when Cash is plentiful and you are hunting a specific Index entry, but beginners should prioritize filling slots over chasing rarity.
Each unique robot you discover fills the Index. Every five unique robots grant Index Luck, and a full Index of 76 robots reaches about 62.5% luck. That long-term luck stack makes mutated rolls more common, so treat Index progress as a soft goal even while you farm Cash.
Place robots and buy more slots
Robots only earn when they are assigned to slots attacking vaults. Place your first roll immediately. Watch the vault take damage; when it breaks, Gold piles up for smelting. Buy additional slots with Cash as soon as you can afford them — more concurrent robots usually beats upgrading a single unit too early.
A practical first-hour slot plan:
- Fill every free slot you start with.
- Smelt enough Gold to buy the next slot.
- Roll or buy another robot and park it.
- Repeat until slot costs spike harder than early damage upgrades.
When Cash is tight, prefer one more slot over a vanity re-roll. When slots are full and vaults feel slow, shift spend into Robot Damage on the boards covered in Upgrades.
Smelt Gold into Cash
Vault destruction yields Gold, not spendable Cash. Interact with the Smelter to convert Gold into Cash. Make smelting a habit every time you return from AFK or finish a vault break streak. Gold also accrues while you are offline, so a short smelt session after login turns idle time into upgrades.
Do not sit on huge Gold piles out of forgetfulness — Cash is what buys slots, board upgrades, and individual robot DPS. Gems are separate and mainly feed Mutation Cores at the Market; details live in Mutations and Economy.
Redeem codes in the first ten minutes
Open Settings (or the codes UI listed in Controls) and redeem active codes early. Working starters include RELEASE, UPDATE, and 100K. Rewards typically include Cash and Gems that accelerate slots and Mutation Cores. Always verify the live list on Codes before a long session — codes expire.
Redeeming before your first big upgrade spend means the free Cash actually changes your path instead of padding an already strong base.
Early upgrade priority (short version)
Approach the upgrade boards in your base. Five paths matter:
| Priority | Upgrade | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Robot Damage | Faster vault clears → more Gold/hour |
| 2 | Robot Battery | Longer effective attack uptime |
| 3 | Robot Luck | Better rolls and mutation odds |
| 4 | Roll Spots | More podium capacity later |
| 5 | Vault Gold Value | Strong but expensive; buy late |
Also upgrade individual robots’ DPS with Cash when a tank is staying in your lineup. Avoid dumping early Cash into Vault Gold Value; it scales well later but starves damage and slots now. Deep spend order, cash management, and board tips are in Upgrades.
First-hour checklist
Use this as a run sheet:
- Finish tutorial prompts and learn E interact targets.
- Roll free robots and fill every open slot.
- Break at least one vault and smelt the Gold.
- Redeem Codes (RELEASE, UPDATE, 100K).
- Buy another slot when Cash allows.
- Put surplus Cash into Robot Damage, then Battery.
- Note Index uniques toward the next +luck milestone.
- Bookmark Guides Hub for mutations, fusion, and economy deep dives.
What to ignore until hour two
You do not need perfect rolls, fusion, or max luck on day one. Fusion unlocks after the second island and needs four identical robots — see Robot Fusion when you get there. Mutation Cores are powerful, but only spend Gems on cores for robots you will keep; random low-tier tanks are poor core targets.
Island unlocks gate stronger vaults. Push islands when your damage and battery feel comfortable on the current vault, not the moment you see the next gate. Stronger vaults feed the economy loop described in Economy.
Common beginner mistakes
- Leaving slots empty while re-rolling for rarity.
- Forgetting to smelt after offline Gold piles up.
- Buying Vault Gold Value before Robot Damage.
- Spending Mutation Cores on temporary filler robots.
- Skipping codes until “later” and finding them expired.
Avoid those five and your first session will feel like a simulator climbing, not a stall. When you want rarity context after you understand the loop, compare picks on the Tier list.
Next pages after getting started
- Controls — confirm every UI location.
- Upgrades — full board priority and robot DPS.
- Economy — Gold, Cash, Gems, offline, vaults.
- Mutations — cores and DPS multipliers.
- Robot Fusion — island two fusion rules.
Play in short loops: roll → place → destroy → smelt → upgrade → repeat. That rhythm is the whole game in miniature, and mastering it in hour one makes every later system cheaper to learn.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Destroy a Vault questions.
What should I buy first with Cash in Destroy a Vault?
Fill empty robot slots first, then invest in Robot Damage, then Robot Battery. Save Vault Gold Value for later when damage and slots are healthy.
How do I turn Gold into upgrades?
Destroy vaults to earn Gold, interact with the Smelter to convert Gold into Cash, then spend Cash on slots, boards, and robot DPS upgrades.
Which codes should new players redeem?
Redeem RELEASE, UPDATE, and 100K early, then check the Codes page for the latest active list before each session.
When do fusion and mutations matter for beginners?
Mutations matter once luck rises or you buy Mutation Cores; fusion unlocks after the second island and needs four identical non-fused robots.
Do robots earn while I am offline?
Yes. Robots continue generating Gold offline. Log in, smelt that Gold into Cash, then spend it on slots or priority upgrades.
